International Rutabaga Curl

It's the last Ithaca Farmers Market of the season. Sat. Dec. 21st, 2024.  10-2pm

Curling is a Winter ice sport. At the Ithaca Farmers Market, we gave it a special, local twist. Instead of frozen granite stones, that are slid across a perfectly swept ice court, we have regulation grown rutabagas. They get tossed on a court. The referees report, the judges work out any discrepancies, the crowd roars and cheers.

This is a family event, with a special turnip toss for children and regulation turnips to boot!

There is a warming fire, rutabaga fries and other rutabaga treats, hot chocolate, and hot apple cider.  The pavilion is usually packed with vendors, with seasonal vegetables, hot foods, and the best selection of holiday gifts to choose from. Come to this fun and silly family event.
