Ithaca Soap Ingredients
At Ithaca Soap, we only use the best ingredients. Every Ithaca Soap ingredient label includes the official Latin words for our very simple ingredients labels.
Ingredients: Saponified certified organic coconut oil, certified organic sunflower oil, and 100% pure water processed essential oils (in all scented varieties.) Unscented and Unscented Oat soaps do not contain essential oils. Pumice and poppy seeds in our hand soap, the Tough Guy bar, pictured here.
Instant Liquid Soap ingredients:
Saponified certified organic coconut oil, 100% essential oils (in all scented varieties. Unscented liquid soap does not contain essential oils).
The only way to get truly plastic free liquid hand soap refill is from our Instant Liquid Soap, aka Castile liquid soap. This is a pure Castile soap, specially formulated as a Castile soap concentrate. Once diluted, it is very sudsy, gentle on skin, and tough on germs.

Ingredients we do not use
- glycerine: is the drying protein extracted from whole, full fat oils
- various salts, sugars and alcohols - such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) sodium phytate, Cocomidiproply Hydroxysultaine, sodium methyl coccyx taurate, sodium coco sulfate, caprylyl / carpal glucoside, laurel glucoside extracted from whole oils which can be drying to skin, and are lung and eye irritants
- sodium laurel sulfate, methylisothiazolinone, benziothiazolinone are foaming agents deemed to be unsafe
- thickeners, palm oil (since we do not farm our own sustainable source)
- no nut oils of any kind
- limonene: a commonly used natural ingredient found in almost every "natural" lip balm out there. Limonene is found in citrus rind and is a know skin irritant. It is used in commercial lip balms to intentionally dry out your lips so you will use more lip balm.
