I love Melons!
It's time for watermelons, musk melons, cantaloupes, and every other melon in between, here in The Finger Lakes Region of NYS. Personally, I cannot get enough melons.
As Andy and I head into year 4 of our local food journey, melon season becomes more and more amazing. Sweet juicy fruit, that comes in all colors and sizes. The melon in the photo at the top of this page is one from my garden, called Kajari. The seeds originated from the Punjab in India.
I get classic Black Mountain Watermelons from Buried Treasure Farm at The Ithaca Farmers Market. Each fruit is the perfect 3-4 serving size, with a deep green rind, and crisp light reddish pink flesh. These sweet beauties are for my dehydrator, so I can have a delicious slice of local watermelon every day of the year.
As you can see, I wash each melon with the very best Fruit and Vegetable Wash.
Make sure you grab some melons at a farmers market near you. Remember to visit us in booth 6 at The Ithaca Farmers Market.
If you can't make it this time, you can always shop here.
